Folks keep asking me ‘what about x?’ – ‘x’ being their favourite musical genre, and ‘x’ not being either jazz or classical. In other words, for fans of jazz and classical (myself included) there has been, and continues to be, much to get excited about in the world of new releases on reel-to-reel tape, whether new recordings of old standards by emerging artists, or recent releases of all-time classic albums on copy master tape.
But if your musical tastes don’t veer in that direction, don’t despair, since over the past year we’ve begun to see a small but definite broadening of genres. These have included some electronic music (e.g. Yello) and some rock / glam metal (e.g. Alice Cooper) and now also, thanks to the folks at Analogue Productions, a veritable – and very welcome – rush of reggae in the form of 5 fabulous albums by Bob Marley and the Wailers!
