Analog Audio Design TP-1000 tape deck now available in USA – with free RX Reels carbon fibre reel

French company Analog Audio Design launched its TP-1000 tape deck back in late 2021. Now, the deck is available in the USA via distributor Pro Audio Ltd, under the guidance of Brian Tucker (formerly of Studer and ReVox).

Pro Audio is also partnering with US-based RX Reels to offer customers a ‘TP-1000 RX Bundle’ – in which anyone buying a new TP-1000 deck from Pro Audio can also receive a new carbon fibre reel from RX Reels at no charge.

TP-1000 – detail of user interface

The playback-only TP-1000 is designed by Analog Audio Design’s Christophe Martinez who spent some four years on an intensive process of research and development. The result is a tape player that’s wholly constructed from new components and combines tried-and-tested methods from the ‘good old days’ of analogue with a unique suite of modern technology and features (e.g. computer-controlled interface, Ethernet port, upgradable firmware).

I interviewed Christophe about the design when it first launched, which you can read at www.thereeltoreelrambler.com/2021/12/01/analog-audio-design-now-taking-orders-for-new-tp-1000-tape-deck. The interview also refers to a forthcoming TR-1000 playback-and-recording deck which was originally planned for launch the following year, in 2022; it hasn’t appeared as yet but I’m told it’s still in the pipeline and will hopefully be available later this year, 2023.

In the meantime, you can read more about the playback-only TP-1000 model in a recent blog post by Kevin Root at RX Reels, based on a conversation with distributor Brian Tucker.
