Nagra & 2xHD pair up for ‘75th Anniversary Collection’ album on tape (among other formats)

To commemorate its 75th anniversary, Swiss high-end audio manufacturer Nagra has joined forces with Montreal-based niche label 2xHD to create a ‘special collection’ of recordings that are being released on vinyl, UHQCD and reel-to-reel tape.

From their news release: “Building on the success of the 70th Anniversary album, this new edition brings together a carefully selected repertoire that reflects Nagra’s long-standing relationship with music and its uncompromising approach to sound. Each recording offers more than a performance preserved in time—it captures a particular musical moment, with all the character, atmosphere and emotion that make it worth returning to.

For 75 years, Nagra has been driven by a simple idea: that technology should serve the music. This anniversary collection offers an opportunity to experience that philosophy through recordings chosen for their musical richness and presented with the care that both Nagra and 2xHD have brought to their collaboration.”

The tapes are a double reel issue, are direct copies from original analogue masters, and come in a limited edition, numbered 1 to 100, on balanced all-aluminium red and silver Nagra (obviously) reels.

They come with quite a price tag: $995.00 USD plus shipping & tax (if applicable).

“But what’s on them?” I hear you ask. For that, you need to check out the back cover – here’s a screenshot.
