Hot on the heels of last year’s collaboration with Alice Cooper, and with Yello in 2024, Revox has now teamed up with rock band Deep Purple to create exclusively branded, signed, limited ‘DP’ editions of the ReVox B77 MKIII tape deck, T77 turntable and STUDIOMASTER A200 wireless loudspeaker.
Numbers are strictly limited – at 25 for the tape deck, 50 for the turntable and 200 for the speaker (which I hear is already sold out).
The tape deck, turntable and speaker have all been specially designed by Revox and Deep Purple, and are handcrafted at Revox’s factory in Villingen, Germany. Each unit is hand-signed by the band’s members: vocalist Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice, keyboardist Don Airey and guitarist Simon McBride.
The Revox B77 MKIII ‘Deep Purple edition’ tape recorder, which comes with with a Studio Master tape copy of new album SPLAT!, is priced at €19,995. The deck’s mechanical braking system is equipped with an electronic braking function, which the company says is an additional feature specific to this DP model. The mechanical and electronic brakes work together and are said to provide even better and more precise control.
You’ll find all the details, and can preorder now, at https://revox.com/deeppurple-limited-edition/
New album Splat!
Each of the three ‘DP’-branded components comes with format-specific copies of Deep Purple’s forthcoming studio album SPLAT! – which will be released by earMUSIC on 3rd July – again in special limited and signed editions.
The included Studio Master tape specs are: ¼in 2-track RTM SM900 at 15ips / 38cm/sec (CCIR) / 510nWb/m.
If you’re not in the market for the deck but still fancy the tape, ReVox/Horch House is selling three editions of Splat! on 1/4” 2-track analogue tape – a Studio Master at €500, a Standard Master at €416 and an Essential Master at €250.
The tapes can be preordered now at www.horchhouse.com/en-world/products/deep-purple-splat and will be shipped when the album is released on 3rd July.
Here’s the launch video for the whole project.
